Because a small school creates big opportunities.

Immerse yourself.

We believe that the best learning happens in a space where students are known, their voices are celebrated, and failure is embraced as part of success. As an intentionally small school, we are flexible, creating unique immersive opportunities for each girl to achieve her goals in mind, body, and spirit. Here, learning means doing. The guidance of trusted teachers and mentors is not confined to four walls of a classroom. The result is education with a deeper level of personal connection that opens doors (and minds) to bigger and broader opportunities for discovery.

I came from a large school with over 1000 students—my voice was lost in the crowd, but it is so different here. I can speak up and be heard without the fear of being judged. My parents often say that sending me to Oldfields was the greatest gift they could give me. I could not agree more.

Because you will find your home.

Be yourself.

The family-like sense of warmth and welcoming that surrounds the Oldfields experience is unparalleled. This feeling exists because of our commitment to keep our community intentionally small, because we learn and live together, and because we share an unwavering caring for and kindness towards one another.  We value your individuality and encourage you to use your voice to help create the student experience. You are embraced as you are, because who you are “supposed” to be doesn’t exist here. The result is a shared, deep-rooted sense of belonging that makes our community a family and our campus a home.

The minute you walk in the door, you realize everybody is looking out for your daughter’s best interest, she is their number one priority. I don’t know of any other place where my daughter is going to matter this much to this many people. They care for her like family, and it becomes a home away from home.    - Liz, Parent, Alumni

Because an all-girls’ education is life-changing.

Express yourself.

At a time when so many outside influences attempt to define who a girl should be, Oldfields provides a place free from that pressure—where girls can focus on who they are and what passions they wish to pursue. Research tells us that young women in single-gender schools have stronger self-esteem, greater self-confidence, broader leadership opportunities, and higher aspirations. Nothing could better describe an Oldfields student. Here, girls lead everything. From small opportunities like making announcements at Morning Meeting to being elected All-School President, leadership is reinforced. We believe in the power of teenage girls, and by the time they leave us, they believe in themselves.

At first when I heard “No boys,” I said “No way!” But after I visited and saw the connection between the students and the confidence they had, I  knew within minutes this was the place I wanted to go. Oldfields has taught me how to come out of my shell, how to be a leader, how to live life, and I am so grateful for that. This is my home.  - Libby, Student

Because you may not know who you are...yet.

Surprise yourself.

When you arrive at Oldfields with an idea, goal, or dream, we say, “give it a try.” While your path may twist and turn, what remains certain throughout is that you will be guided and encouraged by the exceptional people around you. These opportunities for growth are when you will realize your own extraordinary strength. Moments like these are magical, and at Oldfields they happen a lot. True personal growth isn’t about boxing you into one area of specialization, but rather providing you with the flexibility to explore many interests. Our intentionally small student body and ideal location near numerous cultural centers and natural wonders allow for unlimited exploration. Our breadth and depth in the academics, arts, athletics, and extracurricular activities means everyone finds a place to excel.

At Oldfields I had the freedom to figure out what I wanted to do, the access to so many opportunities—like a beautiful dance studio and teachers who were immediately in my corner. I always knew I was a good student, but I did not have as much confidence in my ability to dance, sing, act, or even in my own identity. Oldfields gave me the space to figure it out, to fail, and to succeed. The level of support I got fostered a feeling of competence that I carried with me to college. So much of who I am today, my growth, is because of Oldfields, and that is so beautiful.  - Ali, Student

Oldfields’ motto, Fortezza, Umilitade, e Largo Core—Courage, Humility, and Largeness of Heart, embodies the core values and beliefs that define the culture of our School. It is at the center of every decision we make, directs the actions we take, and provides the guiding principle for how we live our lives.
