OS welcomes the NCR Marathon
Posted 11/13/2018 02:33PM

Oldfields is excited to welcome back the NCR Marathon and the NCR Half Marathon on November 24 presented by the Baltimore Road Runners Club! The course begins on our historic and scenic campus with a .8 mile downhill road section down Glencoe with the remaining 25.4 miles on the NCR Trail making this the fastest marathon and Boston Qualifier for hundreds of miles!

A few names runners might recognize--ultramarathoner Michael Gordian from Alexandria, VA, is registered as is Tyler Muse, another local running celebrity.

The half marathon will start and finish the same as the marathon making it too one of the fastest half marathons for hundreds of miles.

The marathon is the MD RRCA State Trail Marathon Championship and was profiled in the January 2009 issue of Runner's World magazine as an alternate marathon you should consider.

Runners will enjoy finishing at Glencoe Road, wrapping themselves in their coveted NCR blanket, donning their cool medal, and appreciating a well-earned 0.8 mile ride to the post race party at the renovated Oldfields Gymnasium!

Parking

There will be limited parking at the school for volunteers, runners transporting volunteers, and carpools of 4 or more. Preference will be given to volunteers.

ALL OTHERS - Parking will be at a satellite lot on York Rd. behind Pulse Fitness. The address is 14630 York Rd., Sparks-Glencoe, MD. Runners will be bussed from the lot to the school starting at 6:45am and ending at 7:45am. Runners must be on the bus no later than 7:45am to ensure being at the school at the start of the race. Transportation back to the lot will begin at 12:30pm and run until 3:30pm. There will be a spot-a-pot there for your convenience.
