The Ansley D. Smithwick Faculty Prize for Outstanding Leadership in Academic and Student Life
The Oldfields Board of Trustees is proud to announce that they have unanimously approved the creation of a faculty prize in recognition of Ansley D. Smithwick's undying dedication and innumerable contributions to Oldfields School: The Ansley D. Smithwick Faculty Prize for Outstanding Leadership in Academic and Student Life. This prize is to be presented annually to the faculty member who best exemplifies the Oldfields motto, Courage, Humility and Largeness of Heart, by fully and willingly engaging in as many aspects of the academic and student life of the School as possible. The recipient will be selected by a committee appointed by the Head of School. The prize will carry a stipend of $1,500, and the inaugural award will be presented at the conclusion of this (2017-18) academic year.
No one is more deserving of this honor than Ansley. She has given more than anyone could ask during her 38 years at Oldfields, and was very touched when we gave her the good news. The board was enthusiastic about creating this award so that future generations of Oldfields girls, and their outstanding teachers, will remember Ansley's many contributions.
