Frédéric has long been a student of language and history. The rich and colorful past of his native Orléans and its proximity to the châteaux of Chambord and Cheverny and other châteaux in the Loire Valley inspired him from an early age to study French history and culture and history in general. In addition to his academic work in German language, culture and history, he has been studying English for 41 years.
Frédéric received his DEUG in German after two years of studies at the Université d’Orléans-La Source, then continued his German studies at the Sorbonne, where he received the Licence and Maîtrise in German and where he prepared successfully for the CAPES and Agrégation in German, highly competitive national examinations.
Frédéric taught French and was a dorm associate at St. Andrew’s School in Middletown, DE, then became a dorm parent and taught French and German at Concord Academy in Concord, MA, then became Head of the Foreign Language Department and taught French at the Cambridge School of Weston in Weston, MA. He is entering his tenth year of teaching at Oldfields School and currently teaches all levels of French. His goal is always to create a positive and fun learning environment so that each student can succeed. Frédéric has taken Oldfields students to Paris and Montpellier in Southern France during four of Oldfields’ May Programs. Frédéric offered a May Program in German in May 2013 and 2015.
Frédéric is entering his tenth year as the Junior Varsity Badminton Coach and looking forward to another fun season! He will be the Assistant Tennis Coach in the fall of 2019.
