Austen C. Hannis
MEd, Educational Leadership in Athletic Administration, Plymouth State University
Austen Hannis joined Oldfields in July 2018 as the Associate Director of Admission and Director of Summer Programs and Campus Use in addition to Head Junior Varsity Basketball Coach.
Austen comes to Oldfields after spending three years as the Athletic Director at Lancaster Country Day School, a pre-K through grade 12 day school, in Pennsylvania. While at LCDS, he orchestrated an athletic league change and helped facilitate the building of a new athletics and physical education wing in the school. In addition, he developed leadership programming such as Captains Council and the Emerging Leader Summit. Prior to working in PA, he spent nine years working at Cardigan Mountain School, an all-boys junior boarding school, in New Hampshire as the Assistant Athletic Director and the Director of Student Activities. In addition to serving in athletic administration, Austen has previously coached football, basketball, and baseball while teaching history. He earned his Certified Master Athletic Administrator certification through the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association and his Certified Interscholastic Coach through the National Federation of High Schools.
Austen earned a BS in elementary education with a history minor from Elizabethtown College in 2006 and completed a masters of educational leadership with a concentration in athletic administration from Plymouth State University in 2009. Most recently he completed a post-baccalaureate certificate in sports counseling at California University of Pennsylvania in 2017.
In his spare time, Austen enjoys spending time with his wife Alexis and his daughter Regan. Alexis and Austen are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their second child at the end of September. In addition, the Hannis family also includes Champ, their four year old Westie. They live on campus in Carroll House.
