Numbers in the Real World
Single Semester Course
There’s a common question asked of math teachers at some point over the course of a school year: “When will I ever use this in the real world?” Numbers in the Real World is dedicated to answering this very question. The course presents students with everyday calculations, conversions, and data analyses with which they are likely to be confronted in their lives after graduation. The course is not just a math class; it is a life skills course designed to organically prepare and assess the mathematical skills a student has mastered to this point in their academic career. Topics include data collection, data analysis, sports numbers, health and nutrition, and travel.
