AP Chemistry is an introductory college-level chemistry course. Students cultivate their understanding of chemistry through inquiry-based investigations, as they explore content such as: atomic structure, intermolecular forces and bonding, chemical reactions, kinetics, thermodynamics, and equilibrium. The development of problem-solving strategies and computational skills will be an essential element of the course.
AP Chemistry is a rigorous math-based course with a laboratory component. It is intended for students who have demonstrated a willingness to commit considerable time to studying and completing assignments independently. The equivalent of a two-semester college-level Chemistry course, AP Chemistry is designed to prepare students for the AP examination in May and further study in science.
Prerequisites: Biology, Chemistry, Algebra II
