Mandarin II

This course is designed to enhance students' language proficiency by exposing them to more complicated grammar and sentence structures. Students will gain increased Mandarin literacy through short story reading and short essay writing. As a way to build a simulated immersion environment, students will watch episodes of Chinese TV shows, such as Home with Kids, describe the cultural phenomenon in the episode, and compare it with that in their own culture. Students will learn to converse in a restaurant, at an airport, at a doctor's office, rent an apartment, attend a party, have a date, and plan a trip.
