Effective Speaking

Effective Speaking is a practical and hands-on introduction to the techniques and styles of effective speaking. Over the year students will prepare and present both formal and informal speeches. Students will be graded on both written and spoken word, presented in the form of responses, speeches, outlines, activities, and presentations. Each student will be assigned a partner to observe closely throughout the year, giving constructive feedback after each speech. The primary goal of this course is individual improvement. A student's progress will be tracked throughout the trimester, in hopes that she will gain the confidence and experience to articulate with confidence in a classroom, assembly, or public gathering. Through the use of various tricks, techniques, and tools, students will become more confident speaking in front of a crowd, regardless of the size!
