BioEthics

Single Semester Course

This course will introduce students to a range of issues that define bioethics. By definition, it is the multidisciplinary study that explores ethical issues that arise in medicine, health, and biotechnology. New drugs, medical procedures, and ways of altering DNA are bringing benefits to many people. However, these same scientific advances also have the potential to change accepted medical ethical standards, redefining their appropriate use. As technology advances, questions about implementation are becoming increasingly complex. These complex issues often are weighed down by racial and gender inequality. This class will identify these issues, presenting all intersecting views, allowing the student the opportunity to form educated opinions.
