Strategies for Academic Success (Grade 8)

Single Semester Course

Strategies for Academic Success is an elective course that works to build and refine foundational academic as well as executive functioning methods and habits. This class uses multimodal instruction, practical application, repetition, and reflection to facilitate academic growth and improve academic readiness in diverse learners. Students will learn about their unique learning profile and practice critical self-reflection and self-advocacy. Throughout the course, students will be exposed to various reading, writing, note-taking, test-taking, and study skills which they will implement through practical application in their other academic courses throughout their Oldfields career and beyond. The Eighth Grade Strategies for Academic Success course is tailored specifically to the eighth grade program.
