Painting I

Single Semester Course

This course familiarizes students with the use of wet media painting. Students will learn observational painting skills and become acquainted with basic color theory and rendering of objects and images. Since learning the technical aspects of painting tends to be a challenge for beginners, students are asked to remain patient, diligent and to develop a significant work ethic in this class. Artist research will also play a role in familiarizing students with the practices and ideas most important to historical, modernist and contemporary painting. This course will cover the use of acrylic painting and watercolor.
