Study Tips

As most students know, high school involves a lot of memorization. This can be for a test or quiz, or even just keeping up in class. It’s not always the easiest to stay on top of things. Here are some study tips that might help you in the classroom.

1. Pace yourself

When it comes to studying for an upcoming assignment, it can be tempting to over or under prepare. But, when should you study and how much time should you spend on it? Well, for most people, it doesn’t take much time at all. The human brain can only absorb information about a topic for a short period of time each day. In most cases that’s about fifteen minutes. If you spend a little window of time studying each day, it might help you absorb information without becoming overwhelmed.

2. Do what works best for you

You might be trying to prepare for a test or quiz, but then can’t seem to remember anything you’ve studied. You may absorb information in a different way.  It might help if you try studying using different methods. You could try listening to a recording, reading the material out loud, or looking at it and then trying to remember what you saw on the page or screen. This way, you can find which method works best for you when you study.

3. Stay organized

One of the best ways to prepare for a test is simply just to stay organized! When you can’t find your notes or materials, it can add unwanted stress to your preparation. One of the best ways to stay organized is to keep important things like your study materials in a binder, notebook, or folder on a computer. By doing this, you won’t have to spend time looking for your materials later down the line.
