International Politics AP

Single Semester Course

This honors-level elective introduces students to the complexities of global politics. The course gives students a deeper understanding of traditional international political methods such as diplomacy and war, while introducing them to new alternative global forces such as transnationalism, globalization, and international organizations such as the United Nations. Students are expected to master the political theories outlined in the textbook and apply them to current world events and issues such as the crises in Darfur and Sudan, climate change, and the global recession. Throughout the course, students are encouraged to become active participants in the world’s political stage rather than merely spectators. Students have the opportunity to support NGOs, sign petitions, and attend lectures by international figures.
