Dear Oldfields Community,
On behalf of the Perfield family, I hope this finds you all in good health and taking time to find meaning with each passing day. Recently, I have had the pleasure of connecting with a group of parents, students, and colleagues who are leading many efforts remotely. Although unscripted, in nearly all of my interactions, I have noticed our strong "connection" and the appreciation for laughter, joy, and togetherness. I am grateful for the relationships I have with so many of our community members--and I'm certain the fulfillment we all feel from our own meaningful relationships will continue to carry us through this challenging period in our lives. In early April, I shared an update about Oldfields' remote community and our commitment to celebrating the Class of 2020 on June 6. Since then, we have remained deeply committed to helping "flatten the curve" and have consistently followed requirements set by federal, state, and health-related agencies. On Wednesday, the Governor of Maryland announced that public schools will not be returning for the remainder of the 2019-2020 academic year. After numerous conversations surrounding "what if" scenarios, and following a thoughtful conversation with the Senior Class on Wednesday afternoon where they shared meaningful ideas and feedback, I have decided that this year's Awards Ceremony and Graduation will move to a virtual format.
