Remembering Oldfields' First Alumna Board Chair, Freddie Gray '51 Helen "Freddie" Frederick Gray '51, who passed away on April 29, 2019, not only made a splash as a student leader while at Oldfields but also made history as the first alumna (and woman) to chair the Oldfields Board of Trustees. Hawley Rogers remembers, "Freddie's qualities of intellect, experience, and clarity of mind equipped her uniquely for leadership at a crucial time in the School's history… Always available, always supportive, Freddie was a true servant leader." Freddie's daughter, Carla '83, who was the light of her life, also graduated from Oldfields. Freddie's last visit to Oldfields was for the 150th Anniversary celebration, where she was welcomed with all the fanfare due a true Oldfields "celebrity." She leaves large footsteps to follow and will be greatly missed.
