The Spirit Campaign Celebration!

You did it!

Thanks to all of you,

Oldfields has completed

the largest and most successful

capital campaign in its history!

"They" said it couldn't be done! Well, this is Oldfields, and Oldfields girls can do anything!

Saturday night, April 28, 2018, marked the formal close of The Spirit Campaign, begun by Taylor Smith, with wide smiles and congratulatory pats on the back all around.

At the closing celebration Campaign Chair Susan "Silly" Sillcox Repko '72 joyfully proclaimed the successful close of the largest campaign in Oldfields' history. The $12 million goal was not only reached, but also exceeded by more than $300,000! (Silly was on such a roll the last three days, we thought she was going for $13 million!) All involved with the Campaign agree it was Silly's enthusiasm, determination, positivity, and hard work that got us there.

Oldfields girls and their parents love this School, and their generosity to the Campaign just proves it once again. Heartfelt thank yous go out to all of you members of the Oldfields family who made gifts to The Spirit Campaign!

                                  You did it!

2018 Alumnae Day

On April 28, 2018, Oldfields celebrated Alumnae Day! Oldfields hosted 100 alumnae, friends, and family at this memorable event. Alumnae were able to meet Head Elect David Perfield who came with his wife Lisa, and daughters, Anna and Lexi. The 3's and 8's celebrated their milestone reunions at the place they once called their home. It was amazing to see alumnae reunite with classmates and reflect on all the fun they had during their time at Oldfields. Alumnae were able to see their old dorm rooms, tour campus, and enjoy a delicious picnic lunch on the Commons Lawn, topped off by a lively cocktail party! The weather was beautiful, and it was a joyous day!

Carlisle VanMeter Mayer '78 P'14 Concludes 20 Years of Board Service!
Image

She holds the record for longest service on Oldfields Board of Trustees and is one of the most dedicated, active, and generous alumnae in Oldfields history. Carlisle VanMeter Mayer '78 P'14 attended her last Board meeting on April 26-27, 2018, and leaves behind a Board inspired by her devotion to Oldfields.

Carlisle is renowned on the Board for her thoughtful good judgement. She doesn't speak often, but when she does, everyone listens. She brings the perspective of not only an alumna, but also of a parent, her daughter Charlotte having graduated in 2014. She has spent her life living up to the words of John Wesley she chose for her senior page in the 1978 Rarebit:

Do all the good you can.

By all the means you can.

In all the ways you can.

At all the times you can.

To all the people you can.

As long as ever you can.

It's not just the Board of Trustees who is inspired by Carlisle – it's all of us. She is truly foremost among Oldfields' angels!

Happy Grandparents' Day!
Image

A throng of happy grandparents spent Friday, April 13, on campus with their granddaughters for Grandparents' Day. They attended advisory, Morning Meeting, and classes throughout the day, before watching athletic practices and games in the afternoon. Many grandparents reported that Cynthia Krohn's interactive game on circles and arcs in Geometry class was a lot of fun and a huge hit! By the end of the day, some were heard to say they almost felt like teenagers again! There's nothing these grandparents love more than their granddaughters, and it was evident that the feeling is returned in kind. Mother Nature cooperated by giving them a beautiful day, and the day ended with smiles all around!

Oldfields Spring Musical....Hairspray!
Image

The talent in the Oldfields Spring Musical, Hairspray, was absolutely incredible! This amazing collaboration between Oldfields, Hereford High, and Dulaney High was a show the Oldfields community won't soon forget. The songs, the cast, the stage crew and director, Erin Wallace, put on one of the greatest musicals Oldfields has even seen. Oldfields is so lucky to have such a wonderful drama department. Congrats to all!
