Welcome to Oldfields!
As a past parent, Board member, and most recently as Board Chair, I was honored to be asked by the Oldfields Board to serve as Interim Head of School effective July 1, 2022. My 40+ years in the business world, and my close involvement with Oldfields School, have uniquely prepared me to oversee the general management of the School, providing the leadership to ensure a continuing high-quality student experience.
As I look back on 2022, these past several months have been the highlight of my career. Nothing I have done before has been more fulfilling. Oldfields is such a special place, a caring and kind community, and I am grateful to be serving in this role. Being with our students is a bright spot of each day, and I am most thankful for them. As they go through their daily activities, they support each other, accept new challenges with a smile, and work through any difficulties they encounter along the way. Their hard work, perseverance, and positive attitudes are an inspiration to me.
I am also grateful for our talented leadership, faculty, and staff. The support and encouragement they provide to our students is a critical element of the Oldfields Experience. That leader will work together as a team to ensure each day is productive, each idea is considered, and the best decisions are reached. I respect each of them for their expertise, dedication, and compassion.
In watching a video of the School’s history on Founder’s Day, it was infinitely clear that in 1867 Oldfields was ahead of its time! We remain so today and are very much relevant for our current students. Oldfields continues to be a place where every student is known, encouraged, appreciated, and cared for in a warm, nurturing environment that is designed to inspire confidence, personal growth, and empowerment of each individual voice.
Please be assured I am committed to Oldfields School's mission and am proud and humbled to play an instrumental role in developing the strong, confident, and kind young leaders our world needs now more than ever.
I look forward to working with our Board and the Head of School Search Committee in hiring the 12th Head of Oldfields School. The next Head must be prepared to fully embrace the School’s history, mission, philosophy, and values modeling the motto - Courage, Humility, and Largeness of Heart. That leader will need to be a strong yet caring presence, comfortable and engaged with all aspects of a small girls’ boarding school experience - further strengthening the close-knit bonds that make the Oldfields Experience so special.
