Upcoming Activities!

January can be challenging. Not only is the weather less than ideal, but the holidays are over, it is the absolute dead center of the academic year, and the college application process is looming large for our upperclassmen. The joy of Spring Break and May Program seems far away.

WE GET IT! That is why we have a super, fun-filled, jam-packed week of activities extending from this Friday through next week.

It launches this Friday evening with an on-campus concert by the 90s cover band, Here’s to the Night. Girls are encouraged to wear their favorite 90s garb and sing along to Britney, Boyz to Men, Nirvana, and more. Attention day parents, this is required fun. Your girls must attend from 7- 8:15 PM. Friends are welcome to join in!

The weekend activities include an ice hockey game, an assortment of movies, karaoke, and a day of service on Sunday to honor Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday. Oldfields will be volunteering at Happy Helpers for the Homeless in Baltimore. As always, the usual shopping trips are planned throughout the weekend. As always, the sign-up sheets, complete with all the details, are outside Miss Libby’s office where the girls can easily put their names on the list. Parents, on any given weekend, you can visit the Parent Portal and click the Weekend Activities box to see what is being offered.

The entertainment continues into Monday with an inspirational MLK assembly. Several wonderful alumnae, including Antoria Howard Marrow ’77, who is Associate Attorney General for the State of Connecticut, are returning to school to share their stories with our girls. We may also have some other surprises up our sleeves for Monday. Stay tuned.

Yet another assembly is planned on January 18th. Justin Lewis will performing a one man tap show that will give the girls a mid-week boost.          .

The weekend activities committee is doing a great job this year! Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have some great ideas you would like to share! Contact Sarah Dell at DellS@OldfieldsSchool.org.

Hang in there girls, spring is right around the corner, but we will have lots of fun together while we wait!
