Dear Oldfields Family:
I am excited and honored to have been given the opportunity to lead Oldfields beginning in 2017, our sesquicentennial year. As noted in the most recent correspondence from the Board of Trustees, Dr. Parny Hagerman has decided to pursue a time-sensitive career opportunity and be closer to her family. We are grateful for her contributions to Oldfields and wish her all the best.
As Interim Head of School, I will strive to fulfill the mission of Anna Austen McCulloch to nurture, educate, and empower each individual girl. Every day, I am reminded of the transformative power of what I call the "Oldfields magic." Whether I am deeply moved by the honesty and insight of a senior as she proudly delivers her senior presentation to the entire community or when I see a teacher in the late afternoon working one-on-one with a student before they both head off to the fields, dance studio, or theater, I am reminded of why I have chosen to dedicate the last 37 years of my life to this very special place.
Oldfields is poised to begin the new year from a position of strength and confidence. Our students hail from 28 states and 13 countries, creating a dynamic and diverse intellectual climate. Our faculty range from master teachers, who have taught with wisdom and imagination for decades, to young teachers eager to bring innovative and cutting-edge pedagogy to the classroom. The alumnae, parents, and friends continue to demonstrate their loyalty and commitment to the future of Oldfields through their generous support of The Oldfields Fund and the Spirit Campaign.
I am looking forward to seeing you on campus soon as this milestone year unfolds!
Thank you very much for your support,
Interim Head of School
