An exceptional independent boarding and day school for girls grades 8-12

Technology

Oldfields School is committed to maintaining a student-centered environment where learning is an active process and students have the flexibility to learn and grow at a pace that is comfortable for them.

Technology supports the needs of students and the curriculum, and its integration prepares for the challenges of the future. To accomplish this objective, all students, faculty, and staff have access to technology.

Through the Technology Department, students receive on-going support for the software and hardware needed for the school’s curriculum.

Internet access is available throughout the campus, with Wi-Fi available in all dormitories and public spaces. The Brougher e-Learning Center, located in the Nevens Library, is a state of the art computer lab which includes 12 PCs and 12 Macs and creates a wonderful learning space that allows for large classes, group workshops, as well as project-based learning.

Oldfields is committed to remaining on the forefront of technology and recently became the owner of two MakerBot Replicator Desktop 3D Printers.  Read more about the exciting ways our students may use this generous donation.

In 2014 Oldfields created a new faculty position, Coordinator of Educational Technology, to assist in the integration and utilization of digital devices across the curriculum. Faculty and students now have a staff member who will support them in utilizing 21st century tools and strategies in the classroom.

Oldfields takes the responsibility seriously of teaching our students how to balance the enormous capabilities of emerging technology with the responsibility of its appropriate use. It is incumbent of the School to fully prepare our students to thrive in their post-secondary education and beyond. The ability to wield technology will be a determining factor in our students’ success.
