Alumnae Weekend is Here!

Largest "Family Reunion" in Oldfields History!

This weekend we will welcome more than 450 alumnae back to campus for Alumnae Weekend 2017 in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the School's founding. Oldfields girls from the Class of 1942 to the Class of 2016 will be coming home to Oldfields in an inspiring demonstration of the lifelong connection our girls feel to their School.

In addition to our wonderful alumnae, former Trustees, major donors, current parents, and alumnae spouses will swell the ranks to 727!

Highlights of the weekend will include the Friday evening dedication of the East Wing of Old House to Hawley and Wendy Rogers in gratitude for a lifetime of dedication to the education of the young women who called Oldfields their home.

Hawley devoted 28 years to Oldfields, first as an English teacher, and then as Assistant Headmaster, and his 21 years as Headmaster are legendary. Wendy inspired generations of OS girls as Chair of the Visual Arts Department, and many of the School's most recognizable images are her beautiful watercolors of the campus.

The climax of the weekend will be the fabulous 150th Gala on Saturday night, to be held in the gymnasium. Dinner and dancing with the Ben Cameron Band, a silent art auction, and fireworks will make for a festive evening none of us will ever forget!

This will be a 150th anniversary to remember!

OS Rider in the Maryland Hunt Cup!

Oldfields' very own Casey Pinkard '07 will be riding in the Maryland Hunt Cup on Saturday, April 29! She'll be piloting veteran timber horse Turko Service owned by Frank A. Bonsal, Jr., whose daughter-in-law, Helen Baker Bonsal '89, is also an OS alumna. So if you're going to the race, now you have someone to root for.
Best of luck, Casey!

Academic Update

Even though we are approaching the end of the year, academic activities in May are still going strong! Thirteen new students were inducted into the Oldfields National Honor Society on April 3. Please join us in congratulating these exceptional young women! Click here for a complete list of new student members.
A familiar face to many of you, Karen Miller, former Director of Learning Support, is now Acting Dean of Academics. Thanks to her many years of experience at Oldfields, standardized testing, AP exams, interim grades, and course creation and selection for the 2017-18 school year are all right on track!
Three new courses were added for next year: French Language and Culture (Honors), Sculpture, and History Triad (psychology, economics, and sociology).
Students and faculty alike are looking forward to the 2017-18 academic year!

Oldfields Semi-formal

Although it was a bit overcast this past weekend during the Oldfields Semi-formal, the girls' smiles were still shining bright! Over 130 students and guests were transported to an "Evening in Paris" complete with the Eiffel Tower! This year's event was planned by the student-run Semi-formal Committee. They did an amazing job! The evening was made even more special thanks to the Oldfields Parent Association which organized pre and post activities. The after party included a wonderful candy bar as well as fire pits and s'mores. Thanks to everyone who made this a night to remember for our girls!
