Baltimore Gathering

Joe and Dotty Hordubay toasting to 50 years with Oldfields!

Trustee Nancy Palmer P'12 arranged a top notch party for our Oldfields family to celebrate the 150th at the Caves Valley Golf Club on November 16th. More than 60 alumnae, parents, faculty, and staff joined in the festive gathering, made all the merrier by the beautiful holiday greenery, blazing fireplaces, and sumptuous appetizers.

We were delighted to see past faculty Joe and Dotty Hordubay, who are celebrating their 50th anniversary with the School (probably the only people who can say they were there for the 100th, the 125th, and the 150th!) and former Trustee Carol Atterbury '74, who came from farthest away (outside Philadelphia).

Thanks again to Nancy and to all of you who joined us for the Baltimore Gathering. It was wonderful to catch up with each and every one of you!

Oldfields Head Search Process

Thanks to the leadership of Head of School, Parny Hagerman, and a strong faculty and staff, Oldfields is thriving and in a solid position to move forward. As we celebrate the School's 150th birthday, we are excited to begin the important job of finding the next person to lead Oldfields into its bright future.

In Pursuit of Excellence

Assistant Director of Riding, Britt Roden, competing in the Virginia Horse Trials

Oldfields' Riding Program continues to break new ground. With a total of 33 riders with a wide variety of skill levels and experience, the barn was a very busy place this fall. Under the direction of Director of Riding Amy Roden Phillips and her sister, Assistant Director of Riding Britt Roden, the program went where we have never gone before in a variety of ways.

Charlotte Cates '20, Mary Hannah Hardison '19,

Emma Lach '18, and Frances Newton '18 traveled to Madeira School to participate in the first American National Riding Commission (ANRC) Junior Horsemanship Challenge in the country. The Oldfields riders brought home first place!

Academic Update

During this season of thankfulness, I am always reminded of the many opportunities for which I am exceedingly thankful and that all of us, who are associated with this unique and special school called Oldfields, are afforded each day.

Our students and faculty have been provided with many wonderful opportunities this fall.

Oldfields' 150th Makes the News

Oldfields was thrilled to have local reporter, Pat van den Beemt, attend our Founder's Day celebration and interview a few folks about Oldfields' 150th Anniversary. The article ran in the North County News on October 20, 2016 and in The Baltimore Sun on Monday, October 24! We couldn't be more thrilled! Click here to read the article.
