Girls come to Oldfields with many talents and interests and once here, they continue to build on them while they explore new avenues. We simply ask that our students come ready to make the most of their academic and personal potential, to work and play hard, and to contribute to a community where personal honesty, social responsibility, and intellectual curiosity are cornerstones. Be prepared to live our motto - to have the courage to take risks and be involved, to have the humility to work together and support one another's efforts, and to have largeness of heart to live within a community built on respect and kindness. Oldfields seeks qualified students without regard to race, color, religion, sexual orientation, national and ethic origin. Our mission is to enroll able, enthusiastic students who are excited about ideas, are curious about their world, have sound character, and want to make a positive contribution to our community.

Contacting the Admission Office for the first time?
If you are contacting us for the first time, please begin the process by either completing the
Inquiry Form, or by calling our Admission Office at 1.410.472.4800. Once we receive your inquiry, we will mail you a view book, application instructions, and all the necessary application forms.

The following items are necessary to complete an application for admission to Oldfields School:

Application
Please complete the student application for admission, essay, and the family information form and send them, along with a $50 non-refundable application fee ($125 application fee for applicants living outside the United States), to Oldfields School.

Interview
Once the application has been submitted, please contact the Admission Office to arrange a campus visit. An interview with an Admission Office staff member is required for admission to Oldfields. A campus visit and interview may be scheduled weekdays between 8:15 a.m. and 2 p.m. throughout the academic year. This visit usually takes two to three hours and consists of a tour with a current student and a personal interview with a staff member. If distance or other circumstances make it a hardship for a family to visit campus, a phone interview can be substituted for the campus interview.

To schedule an interview please contact the Admission Office at 1.410.472.4800 or via email.

Transcript
A school recommendation form is included in the application packet. Please sign and deliver this to the principal, head of school, or guidance counselor at the applicant's present school. The sending school should then return this form along with a transcript, standardized testing, and any descriptions of school sectioning and grading policies. Transcripts should arrive no earlier than December or January, so that they may reflect first semester work.

Teacher Recommendations
Recommendation forms one and two are included in the application packet and must be completed by current English and math teachers.

Testing
Registration for testing must be completed in advance to ensure that results are available to us by the application deadline (the January SSAT and ISEE is the last monthly test date that meets our February 1 application deadline). Please submit test results from one of the following:

SSAT - Secondary School Admission Test. Contact the Admission Office if you need a Student Registration Guide listing test centers and registration deadlines. We strongly recommend registering for the November, December, or January administrations. Register our code (#5542) on the SSAT registration form and the scores will be sent directly to Oldfields. To register online, go to www.SSAT.org.

ISEE - Independent School Entrance Exam. Contact the Admission Office if you need a Student Guide listing test centers and registration deadlines. We strongly recommend registering for the November, December, or January administrations. Register our code (#210590) on the ISEE registration form and the scores will be sent directly to Oldfields. To register online, go to www.ISEETEST.org.

PSAT - Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test or SAT - Scholastic Aptitude Test. The results of these tests may be submitted for applicants to the grade 11, grade 12, or post-graduate year.

TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language. If English is not the applicant's first language, the applicant is required to take both the TOEFL and the SSAT. Register our code (#8301) on the TOEFL registration form and the scores will be sent directly to Oldfields. Since we do not teach English as a Second Language, international students must have strong writing, reading, and speaking skills in English to receive admission consideration. Information about the TOEFL can be obtained at www.toefl.org or by calling your country's regional TOEFL registration center, or the Educational Testing Service in the United States at 1.609.771.7100.

Individualized Educational Evaluation - If the applicant has had an educational evaluation, such as a WISC or Woodcock Johnson, within the last 24 months the full report of the evaluation must be submitted to the Admission Office. This evaluation may take the place of the abovementioned tests.

Note: From time to time, the Admission Committee may require additional testing.

We will notify you in writing when your application for admission is complete. Applications should be completed by February 1 to be considered for the following year. The Admission Committee will mail decisions letters on March 1 (for day applicants) and March 10 (for boarding applicants).
